Three killed in recent crashes

Three people have been killed on Permian Basin roadways in recent days.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Gonzalo Antonio Ramirez, 50, of Garden City was killed Sunday morning four miles outside of Garden City.

A 60-year-old Garden City man was driving a GMC Sierra north on County Road 125 when he lost control, veered off the road and hit a Chrysler 300 that was parked the east shoulder and Ramirez, who was standing near it, DPS stated.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which took place around 9:20 a.m. The driver of the GMC was uninjured.

Two men were killed early Wednesday 26 miles west of Andrews on State Highway 176.

According to DPS, a 31-year-old Weatherford, Oklahoma man was driving a Ford F-750 west on SH 176 when it veered off the north side of the road and he over-corrected. The truck went into a side skid and rolled.

Miguel De Los Santos Jr. 36, of Brownsville and Juan Serna-Romero, 53, of Odessa weren’t wearing seatbelts and were killed, DPS stated. The driver of the truck, who also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was treated at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, and released.
