The Connoisseurs honor Betty Dale

The Ellen Noël Art Museum’s Connoisseurs bestowed the latest Ludie Warner Award upon Betty L. Dale, 93, Tuesday night.

The Connoisseurs are a group of art patrons and steadfast supporters of the museum created by Ellen Noël in August 1989.

According to a news release, Dale, a native of Mineola, has been supporting the museum since before the original building opened in 1985.

Dale’s great-great grandfather was one of the 300 families that joined Stephen F. Austin in settling Texas.

She, along with her late husband, Albert, and son, William, lived in Pecos for eight years before moving to Odessa in 1960.

Although a member of several organizations, Dale considers The Connoisseur “the most fun and favorite.”

The theme of Tuesday’s awards ceremony was the USO to correspond with the museum’s current exhibition, Thomas Hart Benton and The Navy.

Albert Dale served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

The Museum’s Registrar worked with Dale to produce an exhibition of Albert’s war artifacts and memorabilia, which will remain on display until May 28.
