Teens accused of attacking 14-year-old

Two 17-year-olds were arrested Tuesday on aggravated assault charges after witnesses reported they dragged a 14-year-old out of a car at the Richard Milburn Academy and beat him.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, the boy suffered a fractured orbital socket during the event.

Officers were dispatched to the academy on North West County Road around 12:40 p.m. about an altercation.

When they arrived, a woman told them she saw several people assaulting the victim and she picked him up and put him into her truck for safe keeping as the suspects ran away, the report stated.

Officers learned one of the suspects, Joshua Recio, 17, was inside the school and he admitted to taking part in the assault, the report stated.

A 15-year-old boy told officers he, Recio and Noah Garza, 17, all took part in assaulting the younger boy, the report stated.

Recio and Garza were booked into the Ector County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. They were released Wednesday after posting surety bonds of $50,000 each.
