Teenager charged with sexually abusing 13-year-old cousin

An Ector County Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit detailed a 19-year-old man sexually abused his 13-year-old cousin multiple times during the last two years.

Steven Tyler Snodgrass was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child with the victim being younger than 14, a first-degree felony.

Deputies received a call at 12:33 p.m. Feb. 23, 2021, in reference to a possible sexual abuse of a child, the affidavit stated. Deputies made contact with the 13-year-old girl who made the outcry that she was seuxally abused by her cousin, Snodgrass.

During the investigation, a forensic interview was conducted with the 13-year-old girl who told deputies that Snodgrass had touched her inappropriately on three occasions. The girl stated the first time was when she was 11 during the summer of 2020. The 11-year-old stated the last time she was sexually abused was the weekend of her mother’s birthday sometime in Feburary 2021, the affidavit stated. The girl stated that she, Snodgrass, her grandpa and mom were going to dinner but stopped at a store. The girl stated her mom and grandpa went inside the store then Snodgrass began to touch her inappropriately.

After the forensic interview, ECSO investigators reached out to Snodgrass, however, he refused to speak to investigators about the incident, the affidavit stated.

It was later discovered that Snodgrass admitted to Child Protective Services investigators that he did in fact touch the girl inappropriately, however, he stated it only happened once.

Snodgrass was arrested and booked into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center on Feb. 16, jail records show. He has one bond totaling $150,000 and was still in custody as of Wednesday afternoon.
