Serve Midland hosts 3rd Annual Charity Tennis Tournament benefiting MISD

MIDLAND Serve Midland is dedicated to uplifting and empowering individuals and supporting the community in Midland. Their goal is to come together, have fun, and raise money to support various organizations and causes through the shared experience of tennis.

This style of fundraising is unique in that the beneficiary changes each year, allowing them to serve various organizations in Midland. This year was no different.

On Thursday and Friday, April 20 and 21, Serve Midland hosted its third annual charity tennis tournament and presented the Midland ISD Education Foundation Board members with a $100,000 check towards their organization (final number post-event totaled $115,000).

The MISD Education Foundation helps guide funding that contributes to enrichment and innovative instruction throughout the district leaving its mark on all students through a variety of initiatives.

The Serve Charity Tennis tournament organized over 252 players who participated through Thursday and Friday in both the men and women’s division. Tournaments were hosted at Midland Country Club and the Racquet Club of Midland.

Friday’s event began at 5:30 p.m. and featured an exhibition match between professional tennis players, Brett Joelson, Kaes Van’t Hof, Alex Kuznetsov, and Robby Ginepri. The match was followed by a “party on the patio” on the greens of the Racquet Club where all attendees were encouraged to wear country club whites. Party included dinner, dancing, and a raffle with music provided by Rob Baird and DJ Bryan.
