Red Ribbon Week

The Odessa Police Department will participate in the National Red Ribbon Campaign and speak at several schools October 23-31.

In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in 1985, communities across the country began wearing red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America. Did you know that children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t, yet only a quarter of teens report having these conversations.

OPD would like to encourage the public to wear red ribbons through the rest of this month. Please go to redribbon.org for more information.
