Ratliff Stadium to be site of US Coast Guard ceremony

Petty Officer Jeremy Crawford, a 2005 Permian High School graduate, will advance to Chief Petty Officer during a special ceremony at Ratliff Stadium at noon Friday.

The rank of E-7 Chief Petty Officer is one of the most prestigious ranks an enlisted member of the Coast Guard can achieve. He will be joined by family, friends and representatives from the Coast Guard Recruiting Command in Washington D.C.

He chose Ratliff Stadium for its iconic history, his memories of spending Friday nights at the stadium, and watching the movie “Friday Night Lights” being shot there during his senior year of high school.

Since December, Petty Officer Jeremy Crawford has been on temporary assignment in Odessa establishing a recruiting presence here in his hometown. Petty Officer Crawford is a 2005 graduate of Permian High School, and competed on the MOJO swim team for four years. He also attended Burnet Elementary School and Bonham Junior High. After graduation, he enlisted in the USCG.
