Project to install traffic signals in Pecos

PECOS A project to make improvements in the Pecos area started this week and will take about a year to complete, a Texas Department of Transportation press release detailed.

The work will require multiple lane closures which will require service roads to be modified into one-way operation for the majority of the project.

The main focus of the project is to add traffic signals on the I-20 service roads at both Highway 17 and at Country Club Drive. Some overhead illumination will also be included in the area.

Another major feature will be the addition of left turn lanes on the I-20 service roads at Highway 17.

Motorists are reminded that state law requires them to obey regulatory signs, warning signs and any flaggers in the area. Motorists are also asked to slow down in the work zone. Additional law enforcement may be present in the area.

Dan Williams Company of El Paso and Austin won the project with a low bid of $5.9 million.
