Prince tribute scheduled for Friday

Acclaimed musician and entertainer Marshall Charloff will perform ‘The Purple Piano,” a solo tribute to Prince, at 7 p.m. Friday at the Ector Theater.

Charloff, who played keyboards and bass guitar on the Prince album 94 East, has fronted a Prince tribute band, Purple xPeRienNCE since 2011. Charloff has performed nationwide fronting world-class symphonies in most major cities throughout the U.S. and Canada.

His resume includes playing keyboards for the 1970s rock band the Atlanta Rhythm Section and he recently collaborated with Prince’s sister Sharon Nelson to co-write and record “Colours.”

The Purple Piano will include Charloff performing Prince’s biggest hits, including “Purple Rain,” “Raspberry Beret,” “Little Red Corvette,” “Kiss,” “1999,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” and “Darling Nikki.”

A music icon, Prince died on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57.
