Police: Suspect arrested with 5 grams of crack cocaine

An Odessa police officer who decided to stop a man after witnessing him urinating on a building early Thursday morning ended up making a drug bust.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, an officer was conducting surveillance at the Odessa Motor Inn on East Second Street around 2:30 a.m. when he saw Toronto Williams, 39, walking in a roadway and then urinating on a building.

When the officer turned on his lights and sirens, Williams continued to walk away and eventually began running, the report stated. The officer caught up with Williams and arrested him for allegedly walking in the roadway, a misdemeanor.

While searching Williams, the officer reported he found a baggie containing numerous rocks of crack cocaine, which typically sell for $20 a piece. The total weight of the drug was five grams, the report stated.

Williams, who has previous convictions for evading police, was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, previous convictions, pedestrian in roadway and the first-degree felony charge of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance, the report stated.

Williams remained in the Ector County jail Thursday night on surety bonds totaling $54,157.
