A 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday afternoon near 8th Street and Tower Drive.
According to the Odessa Police Department, an 86-year-old man driving a Chevrolet pickup truck turned out of a private drive on 8th Street to travel north on Tower Drive and struck a Ducati motorcycle being operated by Manuel Luera.
Luera was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which happened around 4 p.m.
The preliminary investigation determined that speed was a contributing factor. The investigation is ongoing.
