Pfluger delivers Articles of Impeachment of DHS Secretary Mayorkas to Senate

WASHINGTON, D.C. As a House Impeachment Manager, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) Tuesday transmitted the Articles of Impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the U.S. Senate.

The Articles prove Secretary Mayorkas willfully and systemically refused to comply with the law and breached the public trust. The U.S. Senate is constitutionally obligated to hold an impeachment trial. However, Senate Democrats have indicated they may move to dismiss or table the articles, a news release said.

“The evidence against Secretary Mayorkas is clear, comprehensive, and compelling,” Pfluger said in the release. “Any Senator who votes to dismiss the impeachment articles is dismissing the cries of millions of Americans impacted by the border crisis. I am proud that the House of Representatives held Secretary Mayorkas accountable for the devastating border crisis. The Senate must fulfill its Constitutional duty to hold a full trial, hear the evidence, and render a verdict.”
