Actors from Odessa High School will give Odessans a glimpse of what they have been working on for University Interscholastic League one-act play at 6:30 p.m. March 20 in the OHS Performing Arts Center, 1301 Dotsy Ave.

General admission is $7 and Ector County ISD staff and students is $5. The performance is in preparation for the UIL meet in Frenship with a performance on March 23, OHS Head Theatre Director Chyree LeMaster said.

Initially, the evening was supposed to include performances by OHS and PHS.

OHS will stage Any Body for Tea.

The story of Any Body for Tea takes place at a dinner party where a dead body appears, turning the evening into a “thrilling mystery,” the summary said.

“The characters, each with their unique quirks, join forces to unravel the secrets surrounding the mysterious guest. Filled whit humor and a touch of detective work, Any Body for Tea is a puzzle that is a delightful blend of laughter and suspense,” the summary detailed.

LeMaster said there are a group of elderly ladies who see a gentleman across the street who is a homicide detective and they are very interested in him, but they think the only way to meet him is for one of them to be killed. She added that it’s kind of like “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

“All of the different one-act plays, it can be chosen from just about anything. The cutting rules are a little bit different than they have been in the past,” LeMaster said.

The cast includes Ethan Hernandez as Captain Williams; Roberto Flores as Dennis O’Finn; Elayna Galindo as Miss Hildegarde; Aliyah Rodriguez as Miss Birdie; and Amaya Gara as Miss Amantha.

Also, Lauren Diaz as Miss Lucy; Lily Griffin as Miss Nettie; Allyah Havner as Miss Elizabeth; and Josh Brindley as Kramer.
