This will be the fourth year of Odessa’s Got Talent. Last year, the show had a good turnout of talented Odessans, and this year is sure to be just as exciting, organizers said. The show began as a fundraiser for the PBMC and has blossomed into an annual event for the community to look forward to.

Founded in 1998, the Permian Basin Mission Center serves the community by providing for any needs the community might face. For qualifying clients, the PBMC offers various services to help set them up for success. Their services are extended to families, veterans, the homeless, and anyone else who might be in need.

Through the generosity of donors and volunteers, the Permian Basin Mission Center has been bettering Odessa’s community by providing various necessities. Last year, the PBMC distributed almost 9,000 emergency food boxes to the community. They also operate a retail-style “clothing store” stocked with baby clothes, school uniforms, maternity wear, work attire, and various other items to fill clients’ needs. Additionally, they offer assistance with rent and other outstanding costs. In 2023, the PBMC welcomed 905 new clients in addition to returning clients.

Each client who comes to the Mission Center is unique, and so the PBMC tailors the help it offers to specifically solve each individual problem at hand. To help set up its clients for successful lives, the Mission Center offers lessons on the fundamentals of household budgeting, including how to open a savings account, apply for SNAP benefits, get free legal help when dealing with child support matters, and other necessities.
