Odessa man killed in weather-related crash

A 35-year-old Odessa man was killed Friday night in a weather-related two-vehicle crash 11 miles north of Big Spring.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 49-year-old man from Tamarac, Florida was traveling south on State Highway 350 in a Freightliner when the semi began to skid on the wet roadway and went into the northbound lanes. The semi then struck a Toyota Tacoma being driven by Jaime Romero Alvarado.

Alvarado, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened around 5:30 p.m. The driver of the semi was uninjured.
