Odessa man facing molestation charge

An Odessa man was arrested on a warrant Friday night, four months after a 9-year-old girl accused him of molesting her.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, a woman came into the police department June 13 to say the child told her Eric Garcia Rivas, 35, had touched her inappropriately on several occasions including once in Odessa.

During a forensic interview, the girl described Rivas coming up behind her at an Odessa home and groping her, the report stated. She also said she woke up once in Monahans after Rivas placed her hand on him.

According to the report, the woman who came into OPD said another police agency is investigating allegations made by another child.

A warrant was issued for Rivas and he was booked into the Ector County jail on suspicion of indecency with a child/sexual contact, a second-degree felony.

He remained in custody Monday on a $40,000 surety bond.
