Odessa man dies in crash

At about 7:22 a.m. Nov. 12, Odessa Police and Odessa Fire Rescue were dispatched to South 385 and Mercer Road regarding a major accident.

The investigation revealed that a gray 2015 Ford Focus four-door passenger car, operated by Jordan Surber of Odessa, was traveling southbound in the inside lane of south U.S. Highway 385 approaching Mercer. A silver Peterbilt pulling a flat bed trailer, being operated by William Sissney of Oklahoma, was ahead of the Ford in the crossover lane attempting to turn east onto Mercer, a news release said.

The release said Surber failed to control speed to avoid the crash. The front left of the Focus impacted the right rear of the semi-trailer. Surber was pronounced deceased on scene and next of kin have been notified. The investigation continues, the release said.
