MOW, Red Cross partnering to install fire alarms

The American Red Cross Serving the Permian Basin and Meals on Wheels of Odessa are partnering to Sound the Alarm and Save a Life.

The two organizations are sharing resources and will install over 350 new smoke alarms in 117 homes from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 18 at Meals on Wheels of Odessa, 1314 E. Fifth St.

“Most people know Meals on Wheels for the noontime meal that is delivered weekdays to homebound seniors and disabled residents of Odessa and Ector County,” Craig Stoker, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Odessa, said in a news release. “In addition to the meals we provide, one of our main priorities is to keep our clients living independently and safely as long as they are able. To do this we are leveraging partnerships with other local agencies to provide more services to our older adult and disabled clients.”

Partnerships like this one with the American Red Cross are only possible with the help of dedicated community volunteers. We are seeking 50 volunteers for this project. If you can join us, they need all the help they can get, the release said.
