MISD taps several ECISD executives

The Midland ISD Board of Trustees approved several hires of administrative staff from Ector County ISD during their meeting Monday night.

Cortney Smith, an executive director of operations for ECISD, was named Chief of Facilities and Operations for MISD.

Smith has also served as custodial director, energy management specialist, as well as a teacher and golf coach. He has nearly 20 years of experience in education, a news release stated.

Annette Macias, executive director of accountability, evaluation, and compliance, was already at MISD coming to the district from ECISD. She will transition from her role as executive director of state and federal programs. She has 27 years of experience as a teacher and administrator.

Luz Melendez was named executive director of Bilingual/ESL. She is currently a bilingual coordinator at ECISD. She comes to Midland with 13 years of experience, the release stated.

Lynda Rhodes was named executive director of special services. She brings more than 20 years of experience into her new role. Among other roles, she has served as a teacher, educational diagnostician, and special education behavior supervisor. She currently serves as the director of choice & partnership schools at ECISD.
