A 28-year-old Midland man was killed Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash 10 miles west of Garden City.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a preliminary investigation showed Edward Scott Abendroth Jr. rear-ended a 26-year-old Florida man as both were driving trucks with trailers east on State Highway 158. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Peterbuilt truck that was hauling 120 cattle was struck by debris from the crash and the driver lost control and his vehicle rolled, DPS stated. Forty-four of the cows died.
Neither the Florida driver or the driver hauling cattle, a 34-year-old Odessan, were hurt.
