Midland College alumni team to host fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse

MIDLAND The Midland College Alumni Association is kicking off the new academic year with a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse Sept. 6.

The newly formed Alumni Association Leadership Team invites the community to dinner and/or appetizers at Texas Roadhouse between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. that day. When customers present the special flyer, Texas Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of the bill to the MC General Scholarship fund.

“The Alumni Association Leadership Team held its first meeting just about two weeks ago,” Erin Casey-Richardson, MC director of Scholarships, said in a news release. “They came with great ideas, not only for alumni member networking, but also ways to help benefit current MC students. The opportunity from Texas Roadhouse to help with scholarships came at the same time, so everything fit together perfectly.

“The MC General Scholarship fund is available to all MC students. With the cost of living having increased so dramatically over the past year, we awarded more scholarships than ever before for fall classes, so it’s time to replenish.”

Casey-Richardson said anyone attending Texas Roadhouse Tuesday must present either a hard copy or digital version of the flyer in order for Texas Roadhouse to apply the 10 percent donation to the MC General Scholarship. The fundraiser is good on dine-in or take-out orders between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Additional information and a link to the Texas Roadhouse menu is available on the MC website.

This is the first of several activities that the MC Alumni Association Leadership Team is planning. Other events will focus on raising money for scholarships, as well as networking opportunities for former MC students who have earned a credential (degree and/or certificate) from Midland College.
