Medical Center Health System to host grand opening for MCH Community Diabetes Clinic

Medical Center Health System is hosting a grand opening for the new MCH Community Diabetes Clinic at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at the former MCH Urgent Care at 1940 E. 42nd St.

This clinic was made possible by the Odessa City Council, who voted unanimously Jan. 9 to award Medical Center Health System $500,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds they received to open and operate the free diabetes clinic. MCH already owned the building and they, along with Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, will provide staffing for the clinic.

When opened, the clinic will have varied hours and days to accommodate different patients’ schedules and is for low-income or non-insured diabetes patients, 18 years of age or older. The clinic will offer free diabetes screenings, appropriate treatments and medication, along with necessary tests and exams for all diabetes patients.
