Medical call leads to drug arrest

According to Odessa police, a local woman was arrested on felony drug charges Sunday a month after she lost consciousness at work and medical staff found drugs in her bra.

OPD records indicate employees of a DK convenience store on Andrews Highway called 911 on Jan. 21 because Calandra Roshelle Stephens, 43, had passed out.

When officers arrived, Odessa Fire Rescue medics informed them that Stephens admitted she’d taken two pills of Ecstasy before being taken to a local hospital, the report stated.

While at the hospital, Stephens became unresponsive, prompting staff to cut through her clothing to provide medical care, the report stated.

Once the clothes were cut, medical staff asked an officer to look at Stephens and the officer found baggies near Stephens’ breasts containing more than 10 grams of crack cocaine and six grams of Ecstasy pills, the report stated.

A warrant was issued and Stephens was booked into the Ector County jail Sunday on suspicion of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony. She was released after posting $50,000 in surety bonds.
