May sales tax check up 20%

The City of Odessa’s May sales tax check, which reflects sales made in March, was up 20.33% compared to last March.

According to a City of Odessa news release, the city received a check of $5,933,286.23, which includes the economic development sales tax of one quarter cent. The Odessa Development Corporation will receive $1,186,657.25 of the $5.9 million.

The year-to-date sales tax revenue for FY2022 is up 29.25% or $7,111,909.07 compared to the budgeted amount expected at this point in the fiscal year, according to the city. The city has budgeted $37,500,000 in net sales tax revenues for the whole fiscal year.

The Ector County Hospital District received $4,733,959. That’s a $1,065,151 increase from the same time last year.
