Man charged with assaulting officers during Steve-O show

A 25-year-old man was arrested after police say he assaulted two peace officers during The Bucket List Tour featuring comedy legend Steve-O at the Ector Theatre.

Mason Alexander Moore was charged with two counts of assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, resisting arrest, search or transport, a class A misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor.

The reported assaults happened Feb. 17 at the Ector Theatre, an Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit stated. When officer Legna Alonso arrived, officers had Moore in hand restraints in the foyer of the Theatre.

Once Moore was restrained, Alonso made contact with Sgt. Tommy Jones who stated that Moore was being escorted out of the theatre by management and Jones for recording the show on his cellphone even though he was asked not to.

While walking toward the exit, Moore threw his hands up, changed course and attempted to turn around and go after some people that may have been laughing about the situation, the affidavit stated. Jones grabbed Moore from behind and both fell to the ground.

As officers tried to gain control of Moore and lift him off the ground, police say Moore became combative. Moore started striking Sgt. Jones, who was in full OPD uniform, in the chest and off duty Cpl. Nicholas Moore.

Mason Moore continued to be uncooperative by placing his hands underneath his body preventing officers from placing hand restraints, the affidavit stated. Moore was kicking officers and refusing to walk on his own. Moore had to be lifted and carried by several officers to the patrol unit.

Moore was transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center and booked on Feb. 18, jail records show. He had four bonds totaling $62,312 and posted bail on Feb. 18.
