Man accused of repeatedly ramming occupied vehicle

An Odessa man was arrested Friday after another man accused him of intentionally and repeatedly ramming his vehicle while it was occupied.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, officers received a shots fired call from the 2100 block of West 5th Street around 5:30 p.m. and when they arrived, they found a heavily damaged Toyota Camry and a heavily damaged GMC.

The driver of the Toyota told officers he and his brother were waiting outside a residence in the car when Fernando Fernandez quickly reversed out of his driveway, put his vehicle in drive and intentionally rammed the Toyota, the report stated.

The Toyota driver said Fernandez did the same thing twice more and only stopped when he began shooting at Fernandez, the report stated. Officers found a bullet hole in the GMC’s hood.

Fernandez’s mother corroborated the other driver’s story and officers found skid marks they believe were consistent with the story, too, the report stated.

Fernandez was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and he remained in the Ector County jail Monday night on a $25,000 surety bond.
