LETTER TO THE EDITOR: There is no Ector County GOP party

Recent letters to the Odessa American regarding the City Council and a neighbor’s yard sign saying “Tisha Crow Needs To Go”, made me reach out and get informed.

Needless to say I’m shocked, let me explain. The Ector County Republican Party (ECRP) is led by Tisha Crow, who has the title of Republican Chair.

Tisha Crow hasn’t faced an opponent and been elected since 2016, she remains in power by a law that requires 2 Republican Precinct Chairs to sign a petition allowing a candidate to run against her.

My head hit the floor when I learned that only 2 Precinct Chairs of the 20 or so Chairs have been elected by voters and the remaining were appointed either by Tisha Crow or her Executive Board, which consists of the appointed Precinct Chairs.

I have lived in precinct 2 for 30 years and have never known who my Precinct Chair is….not a clue.

In a recent Facebook comment I saw where a citizen reached out and asked for a list of the Precinct Chairs to Chris Gonzalez, who claims to be the VP of the ECRP and he replied “the information is public, go find it”.

What is so bothersome of all this trickery is under the tenure of Tisha Crow, the ECRP produces misleading campaign advertisements that claim the “Republican Party” (which appears to be 20 or 25 people) endorses their favored candidate while there are typically other Republican candidates in the race.

Thereby the uniformed voter goes to the polls thinking they’re voting for “THE” Republican when there are other Republicans in the same race…..it’s a good gig if you can get it.

From what I’ve learned is that the Precinct Chairs that have been asked by their constituents for Tisha Crow to face a challenger, is either met with reluctant hostility or totally ignored.

I am now in total agreement that my neighbor is correct in his concerns…Tisha Crow Let The Voters Decide, whether you like her or not, voters deserve the right to choose.
