Legal clinics offered to low-income military vets

Metroplex Veterans Legal Services (MVLS) has scheduled two pro bono single issue legal clinics for low-income U.S. military veterans in need of legal assistance on Friday at The Junior League of Midland, 902 W. Dengar Ave., Midland.

  • 9 a.m.: Expunction/orders of non-disclosure clinic for veterans with criminal cases that are seeking an expunction or order of non-disclosure. The criminal history can create barriers for employment and housing for veterans. The Midland County District Attorney’s office will review all cases in advance, and will provide preliminary assessments on Midland County cases, which will assist pro bono attorneys on the status of the cases and providing legal advice to veterans at the clinic.
  • 1 p.m.: Child support modification clinic for veterans with child support issues. Family law attorneys will provide legal consultations, and the HEROES project of the Texas Attorney General’s office will also be at the clinic, providing information about the current status of veterans’ cases to attorneys.

Veterans must register online in advance of the clinic.
