LCPB joins Mission Agape for Christmas event

MIDLAND The Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin announced on Friday it’s scheduled to donate 600 books to low-income families experiencing food insecurities at the Mission Agape Christmas Blessing Event.

This event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Golf Course Church of Christ, 3500 W Golf Course Rd.

Mission Agape provides to families with food insecurities throughout the year, especially during the holiday season. Low-literate individuals often represent families who have food insecurities, are unhoused, and interface with the justice system.

The partnerships that the Literacy Coalition of the Permian Basin shares with local social service organizations are vital to its mission to increase the literary levels and skills of all people. Throughout the 22-county service area that LCPB serves, there were over 3,000 books donated by Diamondback Energy distributed to help families remember that reading is hope.
