LANDGRAF: Happy Father’s Day!

By State Rep. Brooks Landgraf

Happy Father’s Day to all the West Texas dads out there, and to everyone who does a dad’s job!

Proverbs 4:11 through 4:12 perfectly illustrates the job of a dad: “I will guide you in the way of wisdom and I will lead you in upright paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered, and when you run, you will not stumble.”

In other words, fathers are superheroes without capes. They have been tasked with the amazing opportunity to guide and inspire the next generation.

Such has been the case for my sisters and I who have been extraordinarily blessed to have John F. Landgraf as our father. I’m incredibly thankful for the love and guidance he’s given us every day of our lives. Since our childhood, he taught us to always seek the truth, and to work hard for anything we expect to accomplish.

Thanks for everything, Dad. We love you.

To this day, I strive to instill the lessons I’ve learned from my father onto my own daughter, Hollis Rose. Guiding her through life has been both my greatest joy and my deepest responsibility.

West Texans are the hardest working people I know, and that is certainly no exception for the West Texas fathers who have been the anchors of their families.

I also know that so many have fathers who are no longer with us, and I think it’s appropriate to take a moment to remember them on this special day as well.

So to all you dads, stepdads, grandfathers, moms who take on the role of both parents, thank you. The influence and impact you have on many lives across the Permian Basin and the world cannot be overstated.

God bless Texas!
