For the second year in a row, Ector County ISD is hosting a one-day event for all 8th grade students to get a taste of the class options available to them when they start high school.
The 2024 High School Program Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Odessa College Sports Center. The 8th graders from each middle school will travel to OC at a specified time and will then get the chance to talk with high school teachers and students in all of the various programs — from animation and athletics to welding and yearbook and everything in between. These students are building their high school schedules now, so this gives them the chance to explore, first-hand, the courses that interest them.
A new piece of this event is the parent session. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., the fair will stay open for parents (and students from all other grade levels) to come by and visit with the program reps just as the 8th graders will during the day.
