City pays $85,000 settlement

The Odessa City Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to pay an Odessa resident $85,000 to reach an out-of-court settlement involving a vehicle accident that occurred in 2018.

Senior Assistant City Attorney Daniel Jones via email said Andrew Crask was rear ended by one of the city’s Solid Waste roll off trucks that was fully loaded on JBS Parkway on Nov. 28, 2018.

Crask claimed that the accident had resulted in $60,000 in medical bills and $50,000 in lost wages, Jones said.

The driver of the city truck resigned a few months after the incident to take a new job in Midland, Jones said.
