Goodwill-West Texas receives grant funds for housing

More than 200 people helped with the nonprofit’s new Housing Stabilization Services program

A new grant-funded service at Goodwill-West Texas aims to tackle housing instability in local communities, a press release detailed.

The Housing Stabilization Services program has already helped more than 200 West Texans take the first steps toward obtaining safe, stable housing.

Individuals who qualify are eligible to receive financial assistance with application fees and deposits. It also aids with housing search and placement.

“This new program can be life-changing for the people who just need a little bit of extra help getting back on their feet,” Danielle Robertson, senior director of mission services for Goodwill-West Texas, stated in the press release. “For many, stable housing is the first step to finding employment.”

The 501(c)(3) nonprofit was awarded a $486,987 grant from the Texas Department of Housing Affairs to fund a continuation of the program, which was initially launched in August 2021, the press release stated.

The grant provides funding for three full-time employees to help individuals navigate the application process and connect them to other mission services available to them through Goodwill-West Texas, including job search and placement assistance through the Goodwill Career Center.
