NEW BANK SR VP & PRESIDENT

MIDLAND Rick W. Mitchell has joined American Momentum Bank as Senior Vice President/Midland Market President. A banking veteran with nearly 20 years of experience in West Texas, Mitchell will provide oversight for the bank’s growth and expansion within the market.

Mitchell was previously Senior Vice President, Energy Lender at Prosperity Bank in Midland.

“What really appealed to me about this new opportunity were the people,” Mitchell said. “The professionals at American Momentum have high integrity, strong character and solid reputations in the community.”

Since 2003, Mitchell has held positions with banks in Lubbock and Midland, including Community National Bank, Platinum Bank, FirstCapital Bank of Texas and Prosperity Bank. His experience includes business development, overseeing loan portfolios and lending in the energy sector.

Mitchell holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Abilene Christian University. An active member of his community, he currently serves as Deacon and Head of Financial Counseling Ministry at Fairmont Park Church of Christ. He has also served as a Director for both Be the Change Permian Basin and Campfire USA West Texas Council, and was a graduate of the 2005 class of Leadership Midland.

Financial Advisor Marissa Salgado of the financial services firm Edward Jones in Odessa has received the Certified Financial Planner (TM), or CFP®, certification, granted by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board).

Becoming a CFP professional expands a financial advisor’s knowledge base in the following areas: Financial management, Tax-sensitive investment strategies, Retirement savings, Insurance planning, Education planning and Estate considerations.

In addition to the education and examination components of certification, Salgado also has committed to abiding by the CFP® Board’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct.

GRADUATES

HUNTSVILLE Monica Reyes of Odessa and Clemente Camarillo of Pecos graduated from the Sam Houston State University during the fall semester.

Reyes earned a Master of Library Science, Library Science degree and Camarillo a Bachelor of Arts, Criminal Justice.

WICHITA FALLS Brianna Alexis Diaz and Kevin Hess Schlegel, both of Odessa, graduated from Midwestern State University during the fall semester.

Diaz earned a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences degree and Schlegel earned a Master of Education.

DEAN’S LIST

COLUMBIA, MO. Vanessa Cantoni of Odessa has been named to the Dean’s List at Columbia College during the fall semester.

To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0-point scale.

SAINT PETER, MINN. Major Martin of Crane has been named to the Dean’s List at Gustavus Adolphus College for the fall semester.

The list comprises students who have earned a 3.7 grade point average (based on a scale in which 4.0 = A) or higher for the semester ending in December 2022.

HUNTSVILLE Elizabeth Alvarado of Odessa has been named to the Dean’s List at Sam Houston State University during the fall semester.

Undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
