Food Bank check presentation on Friday

Following the West Texas fundraiser for Hunger Action Month in September, Whataburger is giving $19,581 raised in the Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring areas to the West Texas Food Bank to help fight hunger in the community. Funds will support the Food 2 Kids programs across West Texas and provide over 3,200 meals.

A check presentation is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the West Texas Food Bank, 1601 Westcliff Drive in Midland.

During the Hunger Action Month fundraiser, an impressive $60,000 was raised across West Texas and the Panhandle to support 6 regional food banks. $14,581 in donations came from the Permian Basin community at 8 local area restaurants. (Midland, Odessa, and Big Spring locations) These were donations given by Whataburger customers to help fellow West Texans.

Additionally, to kick off Hunger Action Month and our annual partnership with the West Texas Food Bank, Whataburger donated an additional $5,000, creating a local impact of almost $20,000.

The total from both donations are all in support of Whataburger Feeding Student Success, the company’s signature community program operating at the intersection of food insecurity and education and focusing on helping students at all levels of education achieve their goals and dreams.
