Fix West Texas hosting Texas Humane Legislation Network to review new animal laws

Fix West Texas is hosting a free community meeting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, to present the new laws recently passed in the 88th Texas Legislative Session that will impact animals and the people who care for them. The meeting will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton Midland Plaza, 117 W Wall St., in Midland.

The event will be led by Shelby Bobosky, Executive Director of the Texas Humane Legislation Network, and will cover the laws passed during the 88th Texas Legislature, including laws related to dog and cat breeders, Trap-Neuter-Release, fake service dogs, and a focus on animal cruelty. There will also be discussion on how local ordinances were affected from regulations selling pet store puppies, breeder permits, and functioning agricultural operations in city limits.

The meeting includes a Q&A at the end to ask questions on animal laws and ordinances in general and how to support common sense animal welfare legislation.

RSVP by September 28.
