Five people died in seperate wrecks

Four people were killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Winkler County and a fifth person died in a separate crash Friday in Crane county.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Jose Luis Baeza, 34, of Andrews was driving a Ford F-250 south on State Highway 115 around 6:45 p.m. Thursday when the truck hydroplaned, crossed into the northbound lanes and hit a Ford F-350 head-on.

Baeza, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at Winkler County Hospital. One of his passengers, Maribel Padilla, 35, of Hobbs, N.M., wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to DPS. Two other passengers, who were restrained, a 16-year-old girl and a 7-month-old boy, both of Wink, were taken to the hospital in serious condition.

According to DPS, the driver of the northbound vehicle, Ronald Wayne Stooksberry, 67 of San Angelo, was pronounced dead at the scene and one of his passengers, Emilio Reyes, 35, of Terrell, was pronounced dead at Medical Center Hospital. Neither were wearing seat belts.

Three other passengers, two of whom were wearing seat belts, were taken to MCH in serious condition, according to DPS.

DPS reported that on Friday, Bicente Lujan, 45, of Stanton was traveling south on FM 1053 when his Chevrolet Silverado veered off the road into a west barrow ditch and rolled around 4 p.m. Lujan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the truck and pronounced dead at the scene.
