FCC Excess Telecom affordable connectivity program

Federal Communications Commissions Excess Telecom is hosting an event to provide its affordable connectivity program.

According to a press release, Excess Telecom will be providing a tablet with one year internet connectivity to all citizens of Andrews County that qualify.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Andrews Business and Technology located at 201 NW Avenue D in Andrews. The connection fee is $20.

Qualifications include:

>> Recipient of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
>> Medicaid.
>> Supplemental Security Income.
>> Federal Public Housing Assistance.
>> Veterans and Survivors Pension Benefit.
>> Income that is at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.
>> Students on Federal Pell Grant.
>> Children who participate in the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program, including the USDA Community Eligibility Provision. Title 1.
>> Participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservation.
>> Elderly on Social Security.
