The City of Odessa Parks and Recreation’s sixth annual Daddy-Daughter Dance is set for Saturday.

Organizers expect another big crowd and a successful event again this year, and encourage those planning to attend to sign up in advance online or by visiting the Parks office.

The event is set for Saturday evening at the The Rose Building in downtown Odessa, and will run with the theme centering on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

A first dance will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., suggested for daughters aged from kindergarten to fourth grade, while another dance running from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. is suggested for daughters aged from fifth grade up to teen years.

The event will feature a formal photo area, appetizers, dancing and more.

“It’s popular because it gives memories for the families,” said Cori Branscum, recreation and special events coordinator for Odessa Parks and Recreation. “They can do it every year. It’s something to look forward to during the summer, and something to look back on and see how they’ve grown throughout the years — and just spend some quality time with their kids.”

Tickets are $15 for each individual and are available through OdessaTXParks.org, or at the City of Odessa Parks and Recreation Office, 1100 W. 42nd St.

Saturday’s event will mark the Parks office’s second dance in The Rose Building, after their Mother-Son Dance was held there in May.

Ballroom dress and fancy suites or other costumes are encouraged, fitting the Beauty and the Beast theme.

No mothers are allowed, consistent with similar rules for the Mother-Son Dance, but the suggested age ranges for the evening’s two dances are not mandatory and are flexible for fathers with more than one daughter.
