Ellen Noël Art Museum presents Western Night

The Ellen Noël Art Museum presents Western Night from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 23, a press release stated.

Inspired by the current exhibition, Dramatic Moments by Fredric Remington, which is set to end August 28. Western Night is an event designed to highlight the exhibition in a fun and interactive way. This event is intended for the entire family to enjoy, all ages are welcome.

Families will enjoy western themed activities including how to saddle a horse, use a branding iron to brand a bandana (with paint), design your own brand, sing along around a campfire with cowboy songs lead by a guitarist and more. Food and drinks will be provided.

Exhibition information: This exhibition presents an outstanding collection of large-size vintage Harper’s Weekly engravings by Frederic Remington. These are the images that launched Remington’s illustration career, and that provided the platform from which he evolved into one of the West’s most famous fine art painters. The images not only document his rise to prominence and wealth, but also chronicle the convulsive events in the closing decades of the western frontier era.

Furthermore, Remington has consummate skill in rendering the horse in motion is prominently demonstrated in these engravings. In sum, this extensive body of Frederic Remington has early art is a testament to his emergent skill and creative imagination, traits which quickly elevated him above and beyond his contemporaries.
