University of Texas Permian Basin will host the seventh annual African-American Read-In from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in the multipurpose room (room 2130) at the Mesa Building on campus.
The topic is Reading the Stars: The Life and Legacy of Harriet Jacobs.
“Harriet Jacobs: Author, Abolitionist, and Survivor,” will be presented in honor of the former slave who bucked the odds of slaves not being permitted to read and write to have penned and published the book: Incidents of the Life of a Slave Girlin 1861.
