Economic development welcomes new department director

The Odessa Chamber welcomed Tom Manskey as its new director of economic development Wednesday.

Manskey has more than 30 years of economic development/chamber management experience, having worked in numerous communities in East and Central Texas including Round Rock, Palestine and Rockwall, as well as in Fort Smith, Ark.

Manskey’s knowledge of promoting regional prosperity through economic development, as well as organizational management, public advocacy and community development will allow him to jump right into this new position and elevate the Chamber’s Economic Development Department to the next level, a news release said.

Manskey is a graduate of Texas State University with a degree in urban planning/geography.

He is also a graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management at Southern Methodist University and the Economic Development Institute at Oklahoma University.

“We look forward to having Tom as part of our Chamber team. His decades of knowledge and experience, along with his friendly and outgoing personality, will be a great fit in our community. He will work well with existing businesses to help them grow and also be very welcoming to potential businesses looking to make Odessa their new home,” Renee’ Earls, president/CEO of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release.

Manskey and his wife, Stephanie, have two grown daughters living in Midland. He started his new role on Feb. 1.
