Man found with stolen gun, narcotics

Police arrested a man after reportedly finding him in a Walmart with a stolen gun and a bag of marijuana.

Officers were called about a man with a gun around 8:39 p.m. Wednesday at Walmart, 2450 Loop 338.

Upon arrival, police found a man matching the suspect’s description and instructed him to exit the store, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

The suspect, 31-year-old Ezekiel Galvan, reportedly cursed at the officer and began evading on foot, the release detailed. The officer caught up to Galvan, who tried to resist arrest but was eventually placed into custody.

Galvan was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun reported stolen four years ago from Bud’s Garage, 2101 Andrews Highway, and a bag of marijuana, the release stated.

Police charged Galvan with theft of a firearm, a state jail felony, unlawful carrying of a weapon, evading arrest, resisting arrest, class A misdemeanors, and possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.

Jail records show Galvan was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Thursday and has five bonds totaling $30,500.
