A new Chick-fil-A opens Thursday at 106 E. University Blvd., near Odessa College, in what will be the franchises second location in Odessa.

The restaurant is promoting the opening with a giveaway including a one-year supply of Chick-fil-A meals for the first 100 adults in line at the restaurant around 5:45 a.m. Thursday. Chick-fil-A officials expected people would begin lining up nearly 24 hours in advance.

There will also be a children’s book drive for a local hospital.

Hours of the new Chick-fil-A will be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Chick-fil-A estimated the new restaurant will employ about 120 people. The local owner is U.S. Navy veteran Nate Saxton, who applied for a franchise after his friend, a Chick-fil-A owner in Round Rock, encouraged him to.

The Chick-fil-A will be the sixth in the Odessa and Midland area. The first one opened inside Midland Park Mall in 1980. The new restaurant will have dual drive-thru lanes, an indoor play area for children and free Wi-Fi.
