Pastor Wade Schultz and his church are part of a worldwide movement that has made headway in some of the countries that are the most hostile to Christianity.
The Prescott, Ariz.-based Christian Fellowship Ministry has 3,294 churches on every continent and it is especially prominent in Russia, Cuba, Canada and The Philippines along with the United States.
“We have a strong wing in Russia because they have a different political persuasion,” said Pastor Schultz, pastor of The Potter’s House Christian Church at 3952 E. 42nd St., Suite BB, in the Santa Fe Square.
Meeting at 11 a.m. Sunday with an average of 50-60 people, Schultz said, “I preach about Biblical principles, that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ, to present your body as a living sacrifice and not to be conformed to this world.”
Citing Romans 10:14-15, he asked, “How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard, how can they hear without someone preaching to them and how can they preach unless they are sent?”
Schultz is a native of Bismarck, N.D., who served in the Marine Corps from 1977-81 and worked as a copy machine repairman till being ordained by Pastor Wayman Mitchell in Yuma, Ariz., and starting his ministry here in 1989. His wife’s name is Lisa.
“We’re very evangelical,” Schultz said. “We go from door to door and witness. We go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
“Jesus said, ‘Believe and you shall be saved.’ We are clothed in righteousness when we put on the Lord. He is the author and perfecter of our faith.”
Reporting that the pandemic reduced attendance at his church by 20-25, Schultz said, “We do love those people and we encourage them to come back.
“Preaching is as much supernatural as it is natural, meeting the need of the soul to be brought closer to God. It’s kind of like when Job and his three friends are talking about what is Godly. Then God shows up and concludes the book. God sustains us and helps us to grow.”
Longtime church member Mary Means said The Potter’s House Christian Church “has been a life-changing experience” for her husband Guy and her.
“Pastor Schultz and his wife have been excellent examples as faithful Christians with their devotion and his preaching the truth from a Biblical perspective,” Means said.
“He is not afraid to tell you the truth about your life. At the same time that’s balanced with the grace of God and the willingness God has to involve himself in our lives.”
