A 34-year-old Amarillo man was killed in a two vehicle wreck Saturday just north of Midland.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Luis Castaneda was traveling west on State Highway 349 in a Ford F-150 when he went into the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons and collided with a tractor-trailer.

Castaneda, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 36-year-old man from Midland who also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
