Agape counseling announces addition of PhD therapist

Mental healthcare in West Texas is a recognized need. Agape announced the addition of a PhD full-time Licensed Professional Counselor.

Sabrina Wegner, LPC was born and raised in Midland. Following the completion of a PhD in marriage and family therapy, she went to work in a private mental health practice in Monroe, Louisiana.

Most practitioners complete a master’s degree and enter the field. Wegner chose to enhance her education to the doctorate level.

“I chose to pursue the PhD to challenge myself and to achieve the additional knowledge afforded the degree,” Wegner said in a news release.

Needing more professionals in our area, Agape recruited Wegner back to West Texas.

“It was always in my long-term goals to return home to West Texas,” she said in the release.

For Agape, it is a huge addition. The need for counseling services in our area has never been greater. Adding an additional full-time clinician means more individuals can receive the help they need, the release said.

Agape Counseling Services of West Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit mental health counseling agency. Agape (the Greek word for Love) delivers care to those in need across West Texas. State licensed practitioners work with individuals (adults and teenagers), couples, and families across varied diagnoses. Its team is also active supporting programs with the hospital network, court systems, and school districts.
