A 2-year-old boy drowned Tuesday evening in a West Odessa swimming pool.
According to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an ambulance call in the 2300 block of North Rebecca Avenue around 7:20 p.m.
When they arrived, CPR was being performed on the boy, who had been found unresponsive in an above-ground pool.
The child was taken to Medical Center Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
Ector County Sheriff Mike Griffis said the event was a tragedy. The child was only out of sight for a few minutes.
”I can’t imagine what the family is going through,” he said.
