1 dead in Reeves County crash

A two vehicle crash in Reeves County has left one person dead.

A Texas Department of Public Safety news release said preliminary information revealed that a 2020 Kenworth truck, driven by Darren James Hernandez, 24, of San Angelo, was traveling northbound on U.S. 285 and came to a stop at the stop sign marked intersection of U.S. 285 and RM 652.

The Kenworth then attempted to make a left turn onto RM 652. A Ford F-150 driven by Eduardo Luis Gutierrez, 32, of Heber, Calif., was eastbound on RM 652 and disregarded the stop sign at the intersection of RM 652 and U.S. 285 striking the left side of the Kenworth truck.

Gutierrez was pronounced deceased on scene.

The report said both were wearing seatbelts.

The crash was investigated by Trooper John Harris, Texas Highway Patrol – Pecos.
