The bridge beam placement at the Midkiff and Cotton Flat bridge construction sites continues next week. This is significant progress towards opening the Midkiff and Cotton Flat Roads to north-south traffic in the spring.
Cranes will be operating at Midkiff again on Saturday, Jan 13, and Monday, Jan 15. The east and west bound left main lanes will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day to provide a safe workspace.
The beam lift operation at the Cotton Flat site will start Wednesday morning, Jan 17, and finish Tuesday, Jan 23. No impact to daytime traffic is expected at Cotton Flat Jan 17 through Jan 22. On Tuesday, Jan 23, the westbound left lane will be closed from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Watch for updates on roadside message boards and be alert for temporary frontage road and main lane closures in these work zones. Plan to use alternate routes and expect significant delays.
James Construction was awarded the Midkiff bridge project with a bid of approximately $36.3 million. FNF Construction was awarded the Cotton Flat bridge project with a bid of approximately $68.5 million.
